About us

A small Cornish group with a very particular way of doing things.

The Old Mill is run by sipshift, the independent Cornish hospitality group behind AeroDine Café at Bodmin Airfield. Same people, same standards — proper coffee roasted in the South West by our trusted local supplier, honest food, and a welcome that means it.

The group behind the bar

sipshift began with coffee — beans roasted in the South West by our trusted local supplier, blended and bagged to order, and sent out on a subscription you can pause, skip or gift whenever you like. Over 1,200 customers, twelve origins and an average rating of 4.9 later, that same careful sourcing still sets the tone for everything we do.

From there came kitchens. We like sites with a view and a story: an airfield café on the edge of the runway, and now a mill above a Cornish lake. More sipshift places are brewing across Devon & Cornwall.

Coffee on the edge of the runway

Our flagship café sits right on the edge of Bodmin Airfield — proper coffee, hot food cooked to order, and one of the best views in Cornwall. Plane-spotters very welcome.

The Old Mill

Our newest chapter. The Old Mill stands above the water at Stonerush Lakes, a black-timber bistro with a lakeside terrace, a bar built from reclaimed oak and a dining room lined with stacked logs. Ed and Scarlett run the pass.

Breakfast Tue – Sat from 08:30 – 11:00, food 15:00 – 20:30 and a proper Sunday roast 12:00 – 14:00 — plus pizza and bistro classics delivered across Stonerush Lakes, Southern Halt and the wider local community.

Our kitchen is also a training kitchen — a real working restaurant where the next generation of chefs learn alongside experienced staff. Meet the kitchen →
